Key Highlights of the Dairy Keen Experience
The enduring appeal of Dairy Keen, located conveniently on South Main Street, stems from several distinct features that set it apart from conventional dining spots. These elements combine to create an atmosphere that is both engaging and deeply comforting for every guest who walks through the door.
The Iconic Train System: The most distinguishing feature is undoubtedly the operational model train that runs above the dining area. This charming element transforms a simple meal into an interactive experience, particularly captivating for children but equally appreciated by adults who enjoy the nostalgic ambiance it creates. The constant, gentle movement overhead adds a unique auditory and visual texture to the dining environment.
Commitment to Family Atmosphere: Dairy Keen prioritizes creating an environment where families feel welcome and relaxed. The setting encourages conversation and shared enjoyment without the pressure often associated with more formal establishments. It serves as a true community hub where generations can connect over shared meals and simple pleasures.
Classic Comfort Food Offerings: The culinary focus remains firmly rooted in providing satisfying, well-executed comfort classics. This dedication to familiar, high-quality staples ensures that guests can rely on Dairy Keen for dependable and enjoyable meals, catering to traditional tastes with consistency and care.
Central Heber City Location: Situated at 199 S Main St, the restaurant benefits from a highly accessible and central location within Heber City. This positioning makes it an easy stop for locals running errands or for tourists exploring the beauty of Utah County, solidifying its role as a convenient and recognizable landmark on the main thoroughfare.
These highlights collectively define the essence of Dairy Keen. It’s a place where the culinary offering is supported by an unforgettable setting, making it a destination rather than just a stopover. The attention paid to maintaining this unique atmosphere is a testament to the owners' vision for a truly memorable local eatery.

We drive from Highland Utah just to eat at this place. Sure, we have food where we live, but not THIS food. We come for the fries, and the burgers. We leave with one of the best shakes in the world.
The line is often all the way out the door and down the street. They will probably never make a chain out of it, but a girl can dream. They just need to find the right location, if they ever did build another location. I wish they would, but I’m also happy to drive all the way here just to eat here.
I love the trains and that part of the atmosphere. The only struggle is conveying what you want at the register. You have to speak really loud to be heard, or your order will be wrong. The fries are worth buying extra, because they’re just as good when you reheat them.
If the staff can hear you when you speak. The food is 10/10…

There are only about 20 parking stalls, and parking is extremely difficult no matter when you come.

This place is designed for every age, kids love the trains. My daughter was fascinated with them.
Wheelchair accessibility
The aisles are relatively clear for wheelchairs, but when it’s busy. Someone in a wheeler would have an extremely hard time entering.

I was there for the first time. It was a wonderful experience, from the beautiful flowers outside, the place to seat and enjoy the fresh weather. Inside a home atmosphere with that attractive train at the ceiling and so clean tables and gentle service. Highly recommend for a family.

Amazing burger spot in Heber! If you are ever passing through or need a hearty meal after camping for several days in the wilderness this is the spot. Onion rings are next level and the shake flavors will boggle your mind. This is the kind of train I like. That fry sauce doesn't know what is coming its way!

I thought this place would be a dump for some reason but it exceeded my expectations! Burger was delicious and shakes were so good—I got a seasonal one and definitely recommend trying the shakes. They were delicious. The fries are either double fried or beer battered. They were so good. It was busy so I think it says something about the place.

I usually pass this place by because I thought the service would be too slow. I was surprised to find that it is a nicely updated establishment well a good selection on their menu. The food was ready quickly and it tasted good and fresh. I usually pass through this city pretty quickly on my way to somewhere else. This time I was glad a took the extra few minutes to sit down to eat. The electric train running throughout is a pleasure for everyone to watch and has been a positive draw for many years. I will stop there again on another trip through town.

Fun train-themed restaurant. The shakes are very amazing, the fries are very good, and the burgers are just pretty good. Fun place to eat though. There’s a drive through and also seating both inside and outside. The backdrop in Heber is beautiful. Definitely worth going to.

The restaurant has a very unique atmosphere and is even in a video game called American Truck Simulator! The raspberry shake was really good and big! Kinda expensive for a shake but was good. Menu was a bit confusing with items all over and even taped to the walls. Cute interior but is quite dated.

We love coming here when we visit the area. The trains are so fun. Now that our children are grown, we love watching other's children enjoy the trains. The outdoor train car seats are so fun. This year, we got our grown daughter to sit in the engine for a fun picture for old time sake. The shakes did not disappoint!
Great food options for lunch or dinner.

We’ve come here a couple times for shakes before and we always love them. Today we dined in and got 2 burgers and 2 small fries totaling just shy of $25, which was kind of unexpected as I’ve never seen this place as a pricier burger joint. The staff also had a bit of an attitude when we ordered and picked up our food, but maybe they had a busy day with other annoying customers.
The battered fries were perfect but the burger was a giant let down. It seemed sloppily made and was below average on taste.
Overall, stick to the fries and shakes. Don’t waste your money on actual food because you can find higher quality at a cheaper cost at just about any other food establishment nearby.
